Why I Stopped Giving Only Digital Files

In Person Sales

Why I Stopped Giving Only Digital Files

Today I wanted to talk about the reason why I stopped giving digital files and switched to in person sales. I posted the question on my Facebook business page asking what they prefer: prints or digitals. A lot of my clients and even people who follow my business said that they love the fact that I gave the digital files so that they had the options to print the pictures wherever they wanted. The only problem with that statement however is a lot of my clients didn’t print out their pictures and if they did they printed out a 4 x 6 print from Walmart or Walgreens. Inevitably the subjects of the photo look like aliens from the green tint that these instant or 1-hour labs produce.

There is nothing wrong with printing out snapshots from Walgreens or Walmart. However there is a large investment when it comes to getting pictures professionally taken. I was doing a disservice to my clients by not spending an extra hour or two with them to create beautiful wall art for their homes. I was falling short. I was not giving a great service all the way through the sales process. There are even some clients whose pictures are still living on a disc instead of on their walls. This is my fault.

In Person Sales

I’m happy to say that going forward I will be offering pre-session consultations as well as in person sales after the photo session. I feel that this gives my client a full service experience.

In the pre-session consultation I will talk to clients about what kind of decor and colors they have in their home, what walls they would like to display their custom artwork from their session, what kind of products they would be interested in, and wardrobe styling assistance.

In the ordering appointment or in person sales I will unveil the images captured at the clients session in a slideshow. We will then go back through the images and the client will select the pictures they loved the most, and select the products that would fit their home and personal  aesthetic preferences. After the sales session I do all the work of retouching the photos, designing the products, ordering the products, and hand delivering the products to the client.

I believe that this will make for a truly custom, full service experience for the client. Check out this blog post here on the new products I will be offering.  If you have any questions regarding this new process, shout them out in the comments below. And in case this whole post didn’t convince you that prints are better than digital files, check out this video below.
