I love having a stylized senior session whenever I pick up a new outfit for my style closet or want to get creative during the slow months. I ran a model call on Instagram since that is where most of my seniors find me. This time was no exception. Julia was one of the first girls to apply to my model call.
When I send out the questionnaire for prospective senior models, one of the questions I ask is how they would describe their clothing style. Julia responded that she loved vintage clothing and anything girly and casual. She also included that she liked unique things and trying different styles as well. A match made in heaven, am I right? Julia was perfect for this stylized shoot because I had a couple of very different looks in mind.
I brought quite a few outfits. Two of my favorites were a blush sequin tulle dress from BHLDN and an off the shoulder floral dress from Rue 21 . Both of which, can be borrowed from NHP’s style closet. At the same time, Julia brought a few outfits and accessories of her own. My favorite item she brought was a denim choker that she wore with a cream sweater and cut off shorts. In my opinion, Julia looked like she walked out of a Hollister ad campaign.
Another question I ask in my model questionnaire is what their favorite wardrobe pieces are. One reason I ask this, is it can be really telling of any senior’s style. Julia said that jean shorts, Adidas superstar sneakers, vintage t-shirts, dainty gold chokers (any chokers really) and simple flowy dresses were her go-to wardrobe items.
The stylized senior session took place in Libertyville, Illinois at Studio Share Illinois on a very humid day. I was so excited that Julia was willing to go outside for a bit to get more backdrop variety. Julia’s beautiful hair and makeup was done by Debra Petrielli who did a phenomenal job. If you’d like to see more of her beautiful work, you can visit her website here. I couldn’t be happier with how well Julia’s hair and makeup held up in the crazy humidity!
My assistant for this stylized senior session who also took over my social media accounts to give my followers an exclusive behind the scenes look was Grace. She is a past senior client and model of mine who is always a pleasure to work with.
I want to thank all of the ladies involved who helped make my vision come to life and create some beautiful images in the process. If you’d like to see behind the scenes video from this stylized senior session, click here.
